Just a note there MIA, CG & Beretta are both made in Italy.

As for which one to buy there ihartm, I enjoy shooting the 12 ga trap, 12/20/28 ga sporting guns.

Your choice, both excellent brands, I would agree with goose2, go for the one that fits.

I purchased a Summit for my son last year. After having the Comb cut down to fit him he went out and won several Handicap Events. It's a nice gun that allows you to adjust the rib on both sets of barrels while the 682 allows adjustment only on the Unsingle. I think the CG has a lighter weight than the 682.

One thing is there are fewer choices for aftermarket Choke Tubes with the CG so if your into changing the chocke tubes you may consider the 682. Just my opinion.

MIA

I guess that I don't understand this:

"Get the CG. Beretta is an italian company"

Here is a clip from the CG website:

CAESAR GUERINI srl - Via Canossi, 18/F - 25060 Marcheno (BS) - ITALY Tel. +39 030 8966144 - Fax +39 030 8966147 - P.IVA: 02153610981 E-

(if it was a joke - then I get it) LOL

If you get a CG combo, BOTH barrels have adjustable ribs and the stock is standard with an adjustable comb.

I have a CG Magnus trap combo (34/32) and I love it. CG's come with a lifetime warranty, and the "pit stop" program which allows you to send the gun back 3 times in the first 5 years for a complete go through - only costs you shipping.

If you want to get a good price on the CG contact Bob Schultz Target Shotguns at the url I posted above.

I have not shot a Beretta 682 trap gun, so I can not comment on it VS the CG.

EDIT - - I was composing this at the same tine as the rest of you - I just type s-l-o-w

John. Is there anyone on TS that does not think I know this stuff?

Come shoot with me and Bill Grill in AK this summer. Air fares will be low and the beer will flow.

My wife and I will be doing one of our "Wharf excursions". That is where we go have seafood at lunch and a bottle of wine, then a nap, and then seafood at dinner, 2 bottles of wine, and then "tie-tie, jammies". Hold me posistion 4 or 5 on the afternoon handicap will you?

I am a real NEWBIE here on TS.

It will take me a while to build a mental database of personalities.

I wish that I could travel down and meet ya - but my budget for travel is pretty light this year. Might be able to use the fresh seafood as a hook to get my wife to agree to a visit.

I will hold you position 4 or 5 - but it will be on a short (20) yeardage squad --unless my new Guerini keeps pumping up my scores. :-)

hart-man. I tell you what... I have a personal comment form a CG shooter that is credible. Send me off a PM and I wioll put it up. But your question is too broad to get good to and fro on TS. And too, not enough CG shjooters watching the TS.com forum. They are "out there" shooting. Be a trail blazer. Win your club champ with one, or perhaps state singles... Maybe even giv us a report on what kind of a doubles gun it is. That would be a first.

Personally? I do not think it likes a side wind.

And, buy a Perazzi or a Krieghoff. Really.

I have a Krieghoff KX-5 and Perazzi MX-8 combo. Both great guns. About three months ago, I started shooting a Guerini Summit unsingle. It has quickly become my favorite. You only have to look at the gun to see the quality. Every bit as good as a Perazzi in my opinion. The gun gives you total adjustability. Comb and rib. Barrels are over-bored with 5" forcing cone. My gun has a factory release trigger that is adjustable for length of pull. My MX-8 will be for sale tomorrow on T.S.com. I also had a Beretta682 Gold E which I did not shoot well at all.

Caesar Guerini much more consumer friendly. Their also guarantied for life.

If your in the north east I would try Bart's Sports in MD. They are a stocking dealer and close to the CG Headquarters in Cambridge MD

I owned a Beretta 682 gold E 3 years ago then a Beretta 687. Both of them had one barrel that had POI problems.

Have since bought a CG Magnus Sporting Clays and a Summit Ltd 20 ga clays. Both have better balance than the Berettas and both are perfect on POI. I think the quality is far superior to the Beretta. I plan to get a trap combo soon.

"Over-bored" is just an expression at 27 yards. .727 is a 27 yard bore. Ask Nora. dispersed shot at 27 is still dispersed shot. .727 creates the crushing zone. Outside of that, you may miss. Shoot singles with dispersed shot. Shoot hcp with the center core.

And before you get on my case too much, I'd like to own a CG too. But too windy in my neck-o-the-woods.

Check my post above - there is a link there. Call or send them an e-mail and ask for the price - it is much better than what they show on the webpage.

John

EDIT

Just to be clear - I did not buy my gun there, but I did check prices from them and they were very good. My CG once belonged to inkball here on TS - I bought it "used" from Guns Unlimited.

I have both guns. The Beretta Joel Etchen 687 combo with EELL wood. Great gun. So good that the day I let my wife shoot it I never got it back. So I need another gun. Wife said get another one. I did want 2 of the same guns. I went out shot a lot of guns and came home with a CG. I like the higher rib and the feel of the gun. The CG fits me better and it is a great pointing gun. Both guns are Great just get the one that fits you better and go with it. You can't go wrong with either one.

I have the Summit in 32/30. It weighs the same as the wifes Kolar 34 unsingle with PFS. It does however feel lighter, I guess due to the balance. My wife pointed this out to me and of course I had to prove her wrong. The scale had me eating big time crow. Any way it is a great gun and is also for sale. PM me for details. Jake
